French term or phrase: Cours concepts de base
I was wondering whether anyone could help me with this term which is from a degree certificate I am translating. I am afraid there is not really any context as it's just a heading. The degree is in engineering if that helps.

Principles of ....

Explanation:
I usually course this level of course as "principles of...", which is quite a common title for foundational issues in a subject.

Example sentence(s):
  • "Course Description 14.01 Principles of Microeconomics is an introductory undergraduate course that teaches the fundamentals of microeconomics. ..."
  • "York EMC - Principles of Engineering Electromagnetics"

neutral  writeaway: but this an introductory course on the basis concepts. imo shifting it to principles is going too far, especially given the complete lack of context. it's better to play safe and stick closer to the French
