worshipers

Explanation:
I'm not completely sure, but in this context I highly doubt they mean anything related to sexuality.

En el sentido de "amor espiritual", me parece justa la palabra "worshipers".

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thank you, Marian. I don't think 'acolyte' fits here as 'amantes' are of higher hierarchy. According to Wikipedia "an acolyte is anyone who performs ceremonial duties such as lighting altar candles. In other Christian Churches, the term is more specifically used for one who wishes to attain clergyhood.

adorers

Explanation:
As compared to "worshipers" and "disciples" which are both, in my opinion, good options, "adorers" preserves the sense of the unusual in the original (Spanish) phrase: it is rather unusual to refer to a priest as "adorer" en English, just as it is rather unusual to call one an "amante" in Spanish.

As compared to "worshipers" "adorers" better preserves the link in the original to human love (as well as love of divinity). As compared to "disciples" "adorers" seems to me a somewhat more intense word in terms of its emotional connotation, arguably something required from a word that would translate "amante"
