French term or phrase: présentation ... à l’unité
In a document explaining merchandising policy and practices for a chain of stores. Describing how products are to be displayed. Context: "La présentation du produit se fait **à l’unité** pour un aspect plus luxe/créateur et une meilleure visibilité du produit." I know this usually means singly or one at a time, but later in the document it talks about combining garments to demonstrate a "look" (the French word used is "superposition"), so under those circumstances, the garments are not displayed "à l’unité" as I thought I understood the term! Can anyone throw any light on this, please? Thanks in advance.

Explanation:
I don't see any linguistic problem with the garments later being shown together.

disagree  Tony M: Apart from the fact that is very unnatural in EN, I don't actually think that 'à l'unité' conveys any notion of 'uniqueness'
