Spanish term or phrase: Constitución de la reserva
Administration System - Reserves for Claims in Litigation (Mexico)

The word "constitución" is often used in the singular in this document and I'm wondering whether "creation" or "setup" is more appropriate. I'm erring towards "creation" although in an IT context I'm wondering if "setup" would be better.

However, when it's used in the plural (see below), it's a bit more problematic, as Creations obviously sounds rather odd.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

"**Constitución de la Reserva**

Constituye la reserva a los siniestros que se encuentran en litigio debido que los afectados han presentado quejas o demandas en contra de la compañía.

La constitución de la reserva se realiza de dos maneras dependiendo si el tipo de reserva es ordenanda o contingente......"

There now appears a screenshot of the system with the following heading and items which can be selected:

"Administración de Movimientos

**Constituciones**

Ajustes

Pagos

Liberaciones"

Creation of the reserve
Explanation:
That´s the term I would use if it related to the insurance business.
As an example, in the attached link that is the way a specific authority refers to it.

I agree with Philgoddard: creation does not change, what is expressed in plural is reserve - reserves; i.e. creation of the reserves.

It is not unusual for local as well as national governments to create reserves of this type, as a means of incrementally accruing funds for anticipated future needs.

I think you shouln't worry about the plural. Creation or create is a not necessarily a one-time action.

Asker: Thanks Rafael. I'm inclined to go with "create". However, how would you translate it when it's in the plural "constituciones"? "Creations" doesn't sound right in English.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thanks Patrica. Yes, I'm favouring "create" here. However, how would you translate it when it's in the plural "constituciones"? "Creations" clearly doesn't sound right in English.

Asker: Sorry, Patricia, I've only just seen your comment. So are you saying that you think "Constituciones" should simply be rendered as "Reserves"?

Asker: Thanks Patricia. I see what you and Phil mean now, ie change the noun to plural, ie "creation of reserves" for "constituciones".
