Thanks D and Nick for your comments. It is not unusual for Brazilians to be extremely verbose and use words incorrectly. I explained to my client what profile analysis is and she will know if the translation is correct or not. What I cannot do is use a term that does not exist in English (the terms you suggested) because if I do, the American or British journal the study will be submitted to will turn down the study. As for the glossary entry, you can only state the entry is wrong if you know what teste de perfil por contrastes and profile analysis are. Do you?

The Portuguese says "teste", that's very different from the English "analysis". The glossary entry makes no mention of "contrasts" which is an essential part of the question as asked.

The ERIC reference given makes no mention of "contrasts" either.
