French term or phrase: à la charge du promoteur
Hello,

I am translating an insurance certificate for a clinical trial. The following sentence has been causing me a bit of trouble, mainly due to the use of "à la charge du promoteur".

I have provided my translation as it stands. Do you agree with the use of "legally binding" here?

The cover complies with the insurance obligation established by the aforementioned laws as well as article L1121-10 of the public health code and is legally binding on the sponsor, as much for its own liability as for that of the parties involved in the biomedical research.

the responsibility of the sponsor/developer
Explanation:
I think that there are a number of problems with your translation. However, the main one is that "legally binding" is quite wrong. The source text is saying that the legal texts cited make insurance cover mandatory and that it is the responsibility of the "promoteur" to take out that insurance. Are you sure that "promoteur" is "sponsor"?
