How do you say ‘a classic example of something’, please?

In this case it's a classic example of someone of wanting the gifts of the Holy Spirit without being willing to live a righteous life and repent from one’s sin: Simon Magus was his name, and I enclose the text from the New Testament as a postscript.

Like 'typical of a person', an expression very close semantically to it, a 'classic example of a thing' could in theory be something good and positive, but in practice it is almost always negative.

۱۴چون رسولان در اورشلیم آگاه شدند که سامریان کلام خدا را پذیرفته‌اند، پِطرُس و یوحنا را نزد آنان فرستادند.۱۵آن دو به سامره آمده، برای ایشان دعا کردند تا روح‌القدس را بیابند،۱۶زیرا هنوز بر هیچیک از ایشان نازل نشده بود، بلکه تنها به نام عیسای خداوند تعمید یافته بودند و بس.۱۷پس پِطرُس و یوحنا دستهای خود را بر آنان نهادند و ایشان روح‌القدس را یافتند.

۱۸چون شَمعون دید که با دست نهادن رسولان روح‌القدس عطا می‌شود، مبلغی پیش آورد و۱۹به رسولان گفت: «به من نیز این اقتدار را ببخشید تا بر هر‌که دست بگذارم، روح‌القدس را بیابد.»

۲۰پِطرُس گفت: «زَرَت با خودت نابود باد! زیرا پنداشتی عطای خدا را می‌توان با پول خرید!۲۱تو در این خدمت هیچ سهم و قسمتی نداری، زیرا دلت در حضور خدا راست نیست.۲۲از این شرارتِ خود توبه کن و از خداوند بخواه تا شاید این اندیشۀ دلت آمرزیده شود؛۲۳زیرا می‌بینم که پر از زهر تلخ و گرفتار زنجیرهای شرارتی.»

۲۴شَمعون گفت: «شما برای من نزد خداوند دعا کنید تا آنچه گفتید بر سرم نیاید.»

۲۵پِطرُس و یوحنا پس از شهادت دادن و اعلام کلام خداوند، به اورشلیم بازگشتند و طی راه در بسیاری از روستاهای سامره بشارت دادند.
