Bus/Financial - Accounting / Audit regulation
Portuguese term or phrase: sociedade supervisionada
Hi All,

I am translating audit regulations for an insurance provider in Brazil and would appreciate a second opinion with the above in the following context:

As demonstrações contábeis, inclusive as notas explicativas das sociedades supervisionadas devem ser auditadas por auditor independente

I have used subsidiary, but the text also uses "sociedades coligadas" and "sociedades controladas" - which I have translated as "affiliates" and "controlled companies" respectively, and wanted to double check that it would be appropriate to translate "sociedade supervisionada" as "subsidiary".

Many thanks in advance!

supervised company
Explanation:
It seems that in the insurance sector, there is "supervision" of insurance companies by regulatory bodies. I found more references to the situation in Europe than the situation in Brazil.

The word "company" can be replaced by a more appropriate word if you think appropriate. "institutions" might fit the bill better.

Here's a possibility, and I'm not 100% sure:

supervised entity . . . (entity is pretty good "generic" and all encompassing word)
