Besides, an example of 試験委託基本契約書 that I found on the web does mention the contractor as 研究所, but then what contractor is supposed to perfom is called 試験 throughout the enitre document - the terms that are used in the context 試験内容、試験費用、試験業務、試験機器、試験期間. http://www.fcg-r.co.jp/research/section/pdf/contract.pdf I don't know how close is the contents of the contract you translate to the one that I found, but I believe that, although 試験 does include a research, there is still a considerable difference between 試験 and 研究: 研究 means research and this term includes those done from scratch, while 試験 means testing something that already exists. |
