French term or phrase: placement
Patent about industrial braiding. The word "placement" (de fils, de fibres) occurs multiple times and, as you can see from the first sentence, there is even a loom called a "métier à placement de fils". I get a suggestion from my Ernst dictionary that "setting" or "dropping" might be appropriate for "placement" in a textile context... but I find on Google that "thread setting"/"thread dropping" produces too much in too many other fields than textiles.

"Wire placement" appears 62,000 times and "thread placement" 49,000 times on google.

Since "métier" is here a machine, I would use "wire placement device" ou "thread placement device" for the phrase.

Notes to answerer
Asker: thanks... but in fact I had found that site by googling and there are two points 1) that is about "guide-wire" placement and 2) one use in one patent title is not sufficient, because you never know who put it there. You say that it is "frequently used"... do you think you might give more proof of that?
