Ho trovato questo termine in una specifica per saldature ad arco (sia con elettrodo rivestito che di altri tipi):

"Si raccomanda che:

a. l'accensione degli elettrodi o dei fili sia fatta su apposito tallone di lamiera ausiliaria appoggiato o puntato ad entrambe le estremità oppure in cianfrino;
b. l'uso di talloni di estremità è comunque obbligatorio per l'esecuzione dei giunti testa-testa e per quelli eseguiti con procedimenti automatici e per tutti i particolari in cui la saldatura dovrà risultare a tenuta;
c. di esaminare la superficie di ogni passata per assicurarsi della eliminazione della scoria, dei difetti di profilo e delle irregolarità superficiali: se l'esito dell'esame non è soddisfacente si dovrà fare ricorso ad una preliminare operazione di molatura prima di deporre la passata successiva.
d. in tutte le saldature testa-testa e d'angolo a piena penetrazione si dovrà effettuare in linea di principio la solcatura del rovescio operazione “c” e successiva ripresa “d” (vedere immagine a seguire);"
