It might sound like something out of an episode of Dr Who but actually a TRIAD is the term used to describe the major peaks in energy usage across the National Grid. Because XY purchases its electricity on an ‘energy only’ basis we have to pay for the cost of using the National Grid’s transmission service which is calculated based on our average half hour usage during these TRIAD periods.This means, if we can keep our usage during these times to a bare minimum by turning off any unnecessary equipment, it helps us to save a significant amount of money on our overall electricity bill.Therefore, you will from time to time see messages displayed advising you of when a TRIAD period is taking place and we would appreciate your support in ensuring we are being as energy efficient as possible during these times.
