It appears in "Blacks Law Dictionary" and in "A Dictionary of Modern Legal Usage" both by Bryan A. Garner and both of which are in EN-US. In "A Dictionary of Modern Legal Usage", he explains the distinction between good and valuable consideration very well.

Should I come across it in a translation to US English, is /for valuable consideration/ also current in the US?

The entry in Blacks Law Dictionary for this term is: "A title acquired by the giving of a valuable consideration, as the payment of money or rendition of services or performance of conditions or assumption or discharge of liens or charges."
The entry makes clear (1) that the term consideration by itself does not suffice and that "for (a) valuable consideration" is the correct equivalent term for "a título oneroso" and (2) that title is not a synonym of título in this context. Title means " a formal right of ownership" (Blacks) i.e. "direito de propriedade". "A título" means "by way of" or "for". Thus "a título oneroso" means "by way of payment of (or for) valuable consideration".
