and 2)"personaity" is subjective. First is directed "outwards" and describes one's preferences in respect to the outer world, while the second one touches the inner being and has "inwardy" orientation.

The Misha, thanks a lot for your comment, it is very helpful! I've got someone's diploma supplement here, and the term in question appears as part of the title of two term papers. Here's an example of the meagre context: "взаимосвязь адаптивной способности и личностной направленности у русских, эмигрировавших /в ... /" Мне кажется, personality orientation в общем-то вполне подходит именно благодаря своей расплывчатости, как вы cчитаете?

since it readily evokes the issue of a certain particular kind of orientation, and that's probably not what your paper is about. Personality orientation may work, but again, it doesn't really tell one anything. What orientation are they even talking about: political, psychological, existential, geographical? It just may be better to spell it out right away, such as particulars /certain peculiarities of the political orientation of social-democratic bottlenose dolphins, or whoever they are.
