Explanation:
The context does not make it completely clear, but I suspect "share" is used in the sense of lending objects to each other for use. But it could also include sharing a packet of biscuits or other consumable items. Sharing between groups indicates a good relationship and I would guess this is what the question hopes to elucidate.

In this case (see comment below) I still think it is not about sharing amenities, but it is still a bit ambiguous: is it about giving things to each other, or perhaps sharing food, games, etc.?

  -> Ah indeed, just realized it is not about animals, my mistake! well in this case i guess it is still about sharing objects (things), not sharing common amenities (i.e. bathroom etc.)
