Não encontrei subsídios na internet para explicar o sentido da frase. Mas o contexto (horn sounding, full cry) sugere que vão caçar raposos, a cavalho (fox hunting). O Rei está impaciente (Wait, your Highness..). Ele quer começar... E os irlandeses se permitem uma certa liberdade com a língua...

Sorry, you are in error - "ridling" is the archaic spelling of "riddling" - in the references above they mean exactly the same thing.

As long as you are satisfied - for your purposes for your client - go with what you think - but you have not convinced me.
