interestingly, this term only entered said dic with the 2007 edition; the 1993 first edition did not include it. The term itself is not that new, see here for an earlier use by the BKA

Well, this won't work in Germany, but assuming these fugitives were out on bail, these private "collection agents" would do this job.

However, I like "Fugitive search unit"

According to Leo (dict.leo.org/forum/viewUnsolvedquery.php?idThread=306791&idForum=1&lp=ende&lang=de) in the UK, the department in charge is called "Fugitives Unit" (or is it "Fugitive Unit" /www.phrases.org.uk/bulletin_board/48/messages/1150.html)? Or "target search" in the US?
