From an IT business plan, so many options for this term I wanted to check with an IT expert to see which fit best in this context. It's from a section giving a general overview of the IT sector. Here is an extract (I can't put any more for confidentiality reasons):

"Secteur d'activité large et en expansion, avec de nombreuses recherches en cours sur les besoins de croisement des données..."

Here is my attempt:

"Large and growing sector of activity with a great deal of ongoing research on the need to .... data " correlate/analyze/examine/cross-check/reference/verify/extract?
