Reflexivity
Explanation:
You can freely use this word.

Reflexivity refers to circular relationships between cause and effect. A reflexive relationship is bidirectional with both the cause and the effect affecting one another in a situation that does not render both functions causes and effects.

neutral  Jim Tucker (X): This def. doesn't fit the context, which deals with the nature of a character in fiction.

agree  philgoddard: Jim is right. It means that a person's thoughts and ideas tend to be inherently biased, and are reflected in what they do and say.

reflexivity, reflexiveness

Explanation:
Looks like a typo for reflexivität, which is literally translated as reflexivity or reflexiveness. In the context the more simple reflection would also be an option

reflexiveness and introspection/self-immersion

Explanation:
before you hound me: I know that I'm adding to the original text, but I believe this is what the authour meant in the first place. Reflexiveness alone will not guarantee a full, all-dimensional presentation of a character, and as such, more often than not, it is accompanied by introspection. Afterall, (s)he's talking about the "motives for the actions of the characters". By its very definition, a motive cannot be reflexive, since it is referring to a future occurrence. introspective, yes.

self-reflection

Explanation:
This is what I would have said. I'm not familiar with the book, but if we're talking about characters talking about their own emotions/motivations/thoughts, then self-reflection is what I'd use.

Explanation:
Regarding the content of the text, it is not necessary to use an exact equivalent to Refelexivität. The author wants to show how the motivations and actions of the characters are expressed by their mutual relationships.
