Multi-sports court Explanation: My suggestion; I also thought of "ground" or "area" instead of "court", but "area" especially seems too vague here http://verdepadel.com/index.php/en/products/-sports-faciliti... http://www.thisisnoble.com/index.php?option=com_content&view... http://www.yourcampus360.com/college360.php?pano=404&college... http://centraleastontario.cioc.ca/record/CWD0790 Reference: http://www.ville-lepecq.fr/le_pecq/menu_principal/sports_et_... concourse, vehicle concourse Explanation: "Evolution" can be used in French to describe movement and I think that is how it is being used here. The "plateau d'évolution" is probably part of the hall area, a sort of concourse for vehicles sot that they can transport gear to a given place when an event is being held. http://www.sydneyoperahouse.com/visit/parking.aspx http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Concourse http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/concourse http://dictionary.sensagent.com/concourse/en-en/ -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 8 hrs (2011-11-06 18:15:55 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- http://www.london2012.com/documents/olympic-park/olympic-par... On this map of the Olympic Park in London the word concourse is used to describe the roads or thoroughfare through the park area. http://reliantpark.com/reliant-stadium Concourse is also used in similar contexts to describe open areas where people can circulate freely. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 9 hrs (2011-11-06 19:07:19 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Sorry barking up the wrong tree on this one. Concourse is used for areas where movement occurs, for vehicles or for areas where crowds of people circulate. I had "traversée du plateau d'évolution" in mind rather than the "plateau" itself. A little distracted here, sorry! Main arena woudl be my choice here. |

multipurpose hall Explanation: "The sports and activity centre is a multifunctional structure. The new building includes a large multipurpose hall with enough space to accommodate two handball courts with accompanying mobile spectator stands, as well as a V.I.P. lounge. The centre also houses two smaller halls. This means the complex can accommodate major sporting events, concerts and other cultural events, but also be adapted for school sporting events and local sports initiatives requiring smaller, more intimate settings. " http://www.worldbuildingsdirectory.com/project.cfm?id=895 "Specialist facilities include a Judo Hall, Combat Hall, Netball and Badminton Halls, Multipurpose Hall and a 200m Indoor Athletics Arena. Gym facilities are available at the members-only Valley Fitness Suite and the sports halls are used for training and education and are available to hire for activities, events and special occasions " http://www.sivltd.com/venues/eiss -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2 hrs (2011-11-06 12:50:01 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- "Phase 1A of the MIST campus was opened with four residential blocks comprising 102 apartments and two laboratory buildings and other amenities. General Recreation area/park (for sports, general outdoor activities) Explanation: Hello, I think we need to put the word "sports" in there in English (as opposed to the French) See picture link: http://www.google.com/imgres?q="plateau d'evolution"&um=1&hl... You don't, I suppose, really need the word "general", but for clarity purposes, it may be best to say it. I hope this helps. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 7 hrs (2011-11-06 17:41:41 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- d'évolution = evolves in use (can go from one sport or activity to the next) -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 7 hrs (2011-11-06 17:44:50 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- It doesn't seem any more complicated than this, but I could be wrong. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 3 days15 hrs (2011-11-10 01:32:11 GMT) Post-grading -------------------------------------------------- Sorry, this is inside a stadium (didn't read that LOL). So it can't be a "park" (had doubts about saying "park" here to begin with, but "park" has a wide range of meanings). It could be "recreation floor". |
