English translation: It was Peter's fault

English term or phrase: it was all on Peter's side
I can not understand what this phrase means in this dialogue.

One woman says that her husband fired other woman's nephew, Peter, and the boy has been unable to find a job since then.
Other woman answers: Now, now, dear. That was all on Peter’s side.

It means that it was all Peter's fault; he deserves that, or it is all for his own benefit?

Thanks in advance!

i.e. that by Peter's own actions (or inactions)...that he deserved to be fired.

it was all on peter's side
The fault was all Peter's

Explanation:
It was Peter's fault he couldn't get another job (and possibly that he was sacked) and the first woman is not to blame the husband.
