neutral  Martin Riordan: The term given for translation has no reference to absence. One assumes that the asker will translate the rest of the context. While not necessary, that's fine. It doesn't mean that those who translated what they were asked to translate are wrong. :-)

-> I'm sure you would agree that if words could be translated in isolation, we translators would've been rendered superfluous long ago. I've suggested a translation for the entire phrase ausência de halo de consolidação óssea as it occurs in the ST

linical and radiological follow-up (plain films, computed tomographic reconstruction in three cases) was performed at 2 months, 6 months, 12 months, 24 months and 36 months, postoperatively, with a mean follow-up of 30 months. Functional results were evaluated according to the Japanese Orthopaedic Association's scoring system. An independent surgeon assessed the radiological evidence of anterior cervical fusion using the grades proposed by Bridwell [6]. Every patient experienced neurological recovery. At last follow-up, radiological findings were consistent with grade I (complete fusion) in five cases, grade II (probable fusion) in ten cases, grade III (*****radiolucent halo *****in favor of non fusion) in one case,

halo sign of bone consolidation

Explanation:
É um sinal que aparece em radiografias, parecido com vidro fosco (ground glass) que pode ser interpretado conforme a situação do paciente.

Do primeiro link:
"The computed tomographic (CT) halo sign, also known as the halo sign, refers to a zone of ground-glass attenuation surrounding a pulmonary nodule or mass on CT images (1) (Figure)."
Do segundo link:
"Axial CT image ... shows ... surrounding ground-glass infiltrate (the "halo sign")."

I restricted my translation to the term given. Extending it to include more of the context, it becomes "revealed the absence of a halo sign of bone consolidation", which would apparently cover some of the concerns expressed in other answers.
