Greek to English translations [PRO] Science - Science (general)
I'm confused by the syntax here, especially that "τα οποία και". Is it an error, or am I missing something?
Further on, the experiments from Spain and Italy are discussed in some detail, whereas the ones in N. Africa are only mentioned in passing. So what I have now is: "Specifically, six experiments were carried out in countries of the Southern Zone of the EU (four in Italy and two in Spain), which are evaluated here, as well as one each in Tunisia, Morocco and Brazil. "
"are evaluated (in this paper)" : standard expression in scientific papers. I would not have doubts about this one.
I understand that the paper discusses the six experiments conducted in I. and I. , and not the two similar experiments in T. M. and B. . Maybe they are not comparable or they want to first discuss the first group and then compare with the resultsobtained in countries not in S.E. (and thus produce another paper ;) ). Since you have the whole paper, you can see if this assumption is right.
If it was the researchers themselves who were still evaluating the experiment, I would agree that "are being evaluated" is better. However, after reading this for about the 100th time I now think it's the author of the current document who is doing the evaluation, so in academic style it should be "are evaluated (in this paper)".
"You cannot say that an experiment is assessed/evaluated by/through another."<br><br> True unless it refers to a meta-analysis, which is not the case here.
Having moved on with the text now, I think the intention was to say that the findings of these studies are (or will be) evaluated in the current document.
I agree about the commas. The problem is that the Italy and Spain part is in parentheses, so the "τα οποία και αξιολογούνται" should apply to all six experiments. How about this:
"Specifically, six experiments were carried out in countries of the Southern Zone of the EU (four experiments in Italy and two in Spain) and these are evaluated together with one each from Tunisia, Morocco and Brazil."
This is also in my opinion the only possible reading. I cannot agree with what is proposed by Maya and Kyriacos. You cannot say that an experiment is assessed/evaluated by/through another.
It seems to me that the thing that's missing is two commas: "... στην Ισπανία, τα οποία και αξιολογούνται, και από ένα..." ...in Spain, which are being evaluated, and one each in...
I think it's trying to say something like: ... six experiments in countries of the Southern Zone ... which are evaluated as well as one each from Tunisia ...
after **και από ένα** (πείραμα; / πρόγραμμα;) στην Τυνησία, στο Μαρόκο και στην Βραζιλία. There is something missing definitely. Το me experiment evaluation might be done via projects applied in other countries such as those mentioned.
