I am proofing a paper on eingen values (supply statistics) and the author insists on translating "ponderações" as weighing or weighting, i.e "This way, it was possible to select the weights of each model in relation to the predicted combination." (we are talking models used for predicting future energy supply needs here)
Assuming he using the word in the right context, should it not be "weighting" rather than 'weights"?
