Department of State Foreign Affairs Handbook Volume 7 – Consular Affairs 7 FAM 860 CERTIFICATION OF TRUE COPIES OF DOCUMENTS http://www.state.gov/documents/organization/86735.pdf http://www.asnnotary.org/?form=certifiedattestedphotocopies Innen néhány részlet: On this ___ day of _________, 20___, I certify that the preceding or attached document is a true, exact, complete, and unaltered photocopy made by me from the original document (Description of Document), presented to me by the document’s custodian, (Document Custodian’s Name) and that, to the best of my knowledge, the photocopied document is neither a public record nor a publicly recorded document, certified copies of which are available from an official source other than a notary public. (Signature of Notary Public) [SEAL] (Printed Name of Notary Public) I, (Notary’s Name), a notary public, do certify that on this ___ day of _____________, 20___, I carefully compared the attached copy of (Description of Document) with the original. It is a complete and true copy of the original document. (Signature of Notary Public) [SEAL] (Printed Name of Notary Public) Some states in the United States provide that notaries public may execute certifications of true copies of documents. Many U.S. states, however, have eliminated this as a function of notaries due to concern about security and fraud. Avoid Certifying True Copies of Public Documents: Refer Inquirer to Custodian of Records: If the document is a public document, such as a birth, death, marriages or divorce record, a notarizing officer should direct the inquirer to the custodian of records in that state or other jurisdiction. a. Sworn or Affirmed Statement by the Bearer: An alternative is to permit the requester to make a sworn statement that the document presented is a true copy (see 7 FAM 850). This is a process whereby an individual makes a sworn statement declaring that a copy is an exact reproduction of an original document he or she possesses. This is also known as a “Copy Certification by a Document Custodian.” b. Notarizing officers should ask the following questions before performing this function. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 hr (2011-09-26 15:43:38 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Bocsánat, kimaradt a második referencia megnevezése: "Certified/Attested Photocopies" / American Society of Notaries -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 3 hrs (2011-09-26 17:08:26 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Még egy lényeges megjegyzés a szóhasználathoz fűződően (pun intended :) "For clarity, ASN avoids use of the term "certified" copy except in states whose statutes actually refer to the act in this manner. We more frequently use variations of the term “attest”; i.e. "copy attestation," or "attested copy." Please note that when a notary makes an attested copy of a document, he/she is not guaranteeing the authenticity of the original document, its contents, or its effects. The notary is simply stating that the document photocopy is a "true" and complete copy of the original document that was presented. The notary’s certification is made in a notarial certificate worded expressly for this purpose." Pl.: "The notary’s signed and sealed certificate, attached to the photocopy, attests to the genuineness of the photocopy." (ahol a "sealed" jelentése: a közjegyző pecsétjével ellátott) http://www.asnnotary.org/?form=basicduties |
