Entendo que, "with diesel engine uncoupled", não é o motor que está girando a hélice (e eixo) mas sim o fluxo de água fora do navio (talvéz uma correnteza com o navio ancorado ou atracado num rio). Neste caso é necessário ligar a bomba de ólho auxiliar para manter o eixo lubrificado. Num veleiro, velejando, quando a hélice começa a girar pelo movimento do veleiro, engata-se o motor e a hélice para.
