The first occurs when a person leaves a job and is offered a settlement or release agreement in exchange for any rights to sue for claims arising out of the employment or employment termination." http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-a-release-agreement.htm Por otra parte, puede ser un simple eufemismo, algo para suavizar el mensaje (ya que cuesta decir a un trabajador "you're fired"). El inglés dispone de varios eufemismos en esta situación: "let go", "separate", etc.: "Don't tell an employee that he is being fired. There are better ways to say it, although the meaning is the same. Refer to it as being released from employment, separated from the company, or that the employment has been ended or terminated. When an employee has been released, all the other workers need to know is that the person no longer works there." http://www.netplaces.com/human-resource-management/last-tick... Así se define en la pregunta, y se confirma, por ejemplo, aquí: "A release, rather than a discharge, is used when [...] the situation reveals that the employee was willing to work and was attempting to perform the job duties but was unable to perform satisfactorily [...] A discharge is a termination initiated by the University for cause, including, but not limited to, insubordination, excessive absenteeism or lateness, falsification of records, illegal acts, violation of published Personnel Policy or repetition of behavior for which an oral or written warning was given." http://managers.hr.columbia.edu/tig/paf-index/termination-ms... |
