Aquí hay una explicación del término "xerografico": "Nel 1949 l'azienda da ora nota come Xerox introdusse la prima macchina fotocopiatrice con il nome di Modello A. L'azienda ebbe un tale successo che nel mondo anglosassone il nome divenne di uso comune per indicare la fotocopiatura (Xeroxing) anche se la cosa fu combattuta dall'azienda che temeva che il nome Xerox potesse diventare un marchio generico.
