Vollplattierte Warenqualität plated fabric Explanation: Further to the reference section entries I think the term "plated fabric" may be sufficient for a fashion website. It seems to me that "Warenqualität" refers more to the basic nature or character of the material rather than its degree of excellence, in which case it should be OK to omit that part. As for the "Voll" part, the distinction between fully plated - elastane/lycra, etc. in all courses/rows and half plated - elastane in alternate courses seems a rather technical one and could possibly also be omitted for a fashion website. Perhaps we have been making this too complicated - I now realise that the Collins English dictionary has the following definition: plated (of a fabric) knitted in two different yarns so that one appears on the face and the other on the back http://dictionary.reverso.net/english-definition/plated Just for good measure, here is another UK reference: The '90's saw Gabicci adopted as a favourite amongst golfers and the latest technology was put to good use in the development [of] a plated jersey fabric, knitted with cotton on the inside for comfort and polyester on the outside for durability. http://www.gabicci.com/about.php?p=classic |

Reference: Info Reference information: I can't offer a translation, but this description may help you and others.

Reference: A few more refs Reference information: It is extremely difficult to find any original English-language references to this term. Here is my attempt: (From an article written by someone based in the UK): The firm also uses cotton/Lycra, viscose, cotton/wool, micro modal and Polyamide (Meryll) yarns and produce[s] half and fully plated cotton/Lycra fabrics, yarn dyed feeder stripes and use[s] some imported fleece. http://www.just-style.com/analysis/ocean-made-apparel_id9296... Plating In knitting, the process of knitting two different yarns simultaneously so that one yarn is visible from the surface and the other yarn is carried underneath, directly behind it. This can be done to combine two colors for a mock “heather” effect, to hide a more functional yarn or fiber on the back of the textile (as in a stretch yarn) or to have a “performance” yarn next to the body (for absorbency, wicking, anti-rash, etc.). http://www.fashiondex.com/howtos/Glossary_P.php See also: Plattiert = Vanissé (Strickart) Spezielle Technik, bei der beim Stricken ein Faden vom anderen überdeckt wird.
