in an insurance policy, the person signing up for the policy must declare that they do not have an illness or disease of this type. i can't think of a good translation since the whole expression seems a bit vague and over-general.

Hi Nacozari,

If you want to play safe, and see that the context is so general, I think you could say "progressives illness or disease", as the insurance clause is likely to refer to both anyway.

La diferencia parece sutil, pero 'illness' (o 'ailment' o 'malady') tiende a referirse a una condición de algún modo pasajera, conceptualmente, aunque sea severa, y la expresión de algo subyaciente; mientras que 'disease' tiende a referirse a una patología subyaciente.
