"When we speak about poverty, we are speaking about men and women with faces and names who cannot be reduced to statistics. The theme of our conference COULD NOT BE MORE IMPORTANT TO THEM. We need to listen to the voices of the rural poor to build societies that are more equal

Voici une tournure de phrase très anglaise mais qui me pose problème à la traduction, car je ne suis pas sûre qu'on puisse dire la même chose en français? j'ai pensé à: "AUCUN THEME NE POURRAIT ETRE PLUS IMPORTANT A LEURS YEUX QUE CELUI DE NOTRE CONFERENCE"

Depending on how you've translated men and women with faces and names, you would need to use either eux or elles. For example, ces gens -->eux or ces personnes -->elles.
