The English term: these are the words usually pronounced by attorneys when presenting the motion. In the sense of may the court decide what is right. The German counterpart is something like "Möge das Gericht zu Recht erkennen ! "

C'est effectivement une formule juridique de requête auprès d'une juridiction. Cette formule (non obligatoire) est d'un usage courant et enseigné qui marque le respect et la politesse. Cette formule exprime le souhait du requérant de voir la juridiction aller dans le sens demandé. C'est un peu "comme s'il vous plait" sous une forme plus ancienne, plus éloborée et impersonnelle "qu'il plaise au tribunal... de dire..., de déclarer..., de condamner... de ...".
Ce n'est toutefois qu'une formule révérencieuse de politesse car une juridiction (digne de ce nom) ne doit pas décider selon son "bon" plaisir (comme un monarque ayant tous les pouvoirs) mais en fonction des règles de droit et de l'équité.
Cette formule correspond à "please" en Anglais. May it please the court.
