Italian to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Engineering (general)
Italian term or phrase: open art
In a list of definitions in an engineering company's quality procedure on handling confidential documents:
'Open Art - Tecnologia non sottoposta a vincoli di utilizzo.'

This only comes up in the main body of the text in the following section:
'Nel seguito viene descritta la disciplina dei comportamenti aziendali nel caso di progetti o offerte sottoposti ad un regime di confidenzialità. Casi particolari sono costituiti dai progetti in cui: 1) La XXX sia il proprietario della tecnologia (o ne abbia comunque titolo), 2) La tecnologia interessata rientri fra quelle classificate come “Open Art”.'
[quotation marks are used around the term in the source text; XXX is the name of the company.]

Uses of "Open Art" in this context in English texts on the net appear unconvincing (few in number, most apparently written by non-native speakers). Potential candidate translations might be "Open Source" (I had thought that this related primarily to software - which may not be appropriate in my case - although the Wikipedia page suggests otherwise) or "Open Licence" (although, for all I know, no licence is necessarily involved).

Suggestions welcome - TIA :).

Explanation:
Only a suggestion, although open-art technology does seem to be used.
