Italian term or phrase: trama battuta
"Micro ricamini movimentano *trame battute*, cotoni compatti e denim accoppiati."
In relation to childrenswear - in a "trend book" aimed at fashion design professionals. Can anyone tell me if this is a "flat weave" in US English, or something else? "Beaten weave" doesn't seem to exist.

Thanks, this is the answer I used in the end (close weave) even though it may not be the most technically correct term.

Asker: Thanks SwissTell, but most of the hits refer to satin or silk and I don't think that's the case here, talking about kids clothing (of course you never know, but it seems a bit unlikely!)

beat-up weft

Explanation:
It may also mean thick/dense pick

beating up
Beating up the weft. The third process in weaving, the others being shedding and picking. It consists of beating up, forcing the pick of the weft yarn left in the warp shed up to the fell of the cloth. Brian Crawford

Asker: This was probably too technical for the context, but thanks anyway, I will bear it in mind for future translations!
