"boutique business" Boutique-Business bzw.

Der Webster definiert „boutique“ z.B. als „a small company that offers highly specialized services or products <boutique wineries> <an independent investment boutique>“. ______________________ „According to many experts, Nintendo's most likely route is to eventually follow Sega's lead: get out of the brutally competitive console business and focus on software. By doing this Nintendo's growth might become limited, but the company could become a profitable boutique video-game brand that caters to children, newcomers and enthusiasts. In fact, game analyst Hisakazu Hirabayashi insists that scenario has already happened. "Since around 2000, Nintendo was no longer a member of the video-game industry. Its philosophy and method are fundamentally different from the other console and software companies. It's not a loser only because it's taken itself out of the race.“ Quelle: http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,501031215-5... __________________________ Und zum Abschluss noch ein Verweis auf den englischsprachigen Artikel zu „Boutique“: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boutique „Recently, the term "boutique" has started being applied to normally-mass-market items that are either niche or produced in intentionally small numbers at very high prices. This may be referred to as boutique manufacturing. For example, before the release of the Wii, a Time Magazine article suggested that Nintendo could become a "boutique video-game company", producing games for niche audiences, rather than trying to compete directly with Microsoft and Sony. In the traditional luxury-watch industry Scalfaro International is considered as the precursor in manufacturing and sale of bespoke watches. The Swiss company uses a highly flexible boutique manufacturing site, which allows producing small series or even unique timepieces. Although some boutiques specialise in hand-made items and other truly one-of-a-kind items, others simply produce t-shirts, stickers, and other fashion accessories in artificially small runs and sell them at unusually high prices.“ |
