een pivot draait wel, maar is niet echt een scharnier in de strikte zin van het woord; het is een puntvormige steun waarrond een rotatie optreedt. Een scharnier is een lijnvormige verbinding waarrond een rotatie optreedt....muggen(n)ziften; ik geef het toe!
