"Threat posture" semble bien décrire la nature de la menace comme décrit ici : “It is vital that we understand the enemy's threat posture, and know where, when and how he is going to strike us ...”

I would ditch the poorly written English and just use "menace" which is what they mean ("posture" is unnecessary in English in this phrase).
