Eileen, as I understand it, the reason this doc should only be used for reference is not because it is uncontrolled or unapproved, but simply because each laboratory that will use this "protocolo de validación" has its own specific needs and circumstances. So these labs should not treat this document as an instruction manual, telling them exactly what to do, rather, each lab should use the examples in this doc as a starting point to develop their own tailor-made version of the protocol... as the second paragraph says. </br> Bashiqa, you are quite right in saying that this is a general document for use in several labs, and also, that technical product specifications go through several stages, but I feel you are off-target. As I understand it, this is not a product specification that has to be validated and then used in its final form by all labs concerned, this is a "validation protocol" that each lab has to modify according to its own needs and procedures, so each lab will have its own final version of the protocol.
