Nel primo caso massima attenzione fu assegnata al disegno della vetrina, pensata come una composizione plastica di volumi con l’aggiunta di una gamma cromatica d’ispirazione elementarista nei serramenti e in alcuni elementi costruttivi. Nello studio del dottor xxxx la messa a punto del dispositivo spazio-colore si rivelò efficacemente nel grande cerchio rosso-arancio che xxxx dipinse sulla parete a destra della scrivania.

An elementarist I presume is a person using elementarism in his work. I would use elementarism rather than elementarist.
Definition: Term coined by Theo van Doesburg (Dutch artist) and applied to painting and architecture to describe the constructive use of line, plane, volume and colour not only as the primary means of art but as an end in itself.

It's really open to interpretation unless you know exactly which colours are used - it could simply mean the primary colours (red, blue, yellow) or primary and secondary colours (primary plus orange, green and purple). But, sticking to the moreclassic definition, it likely means Red, Yellow, Blue and Green - see p. 4 here for definition of elementary colours.
