Explanation:
Si se trata de alguien reconocido en el mundo académico, podría ser Doctor, pero creo que actualmente se utiliza Señor para cualquier tipo de carta, sobre todo porque es una palabra neutra, y si no conoces a quien va dirigida la carta, pues queda mejor.

"Apreciado Colega": me arriesgo con esta opción, al no tener más contexto y suponiendo que un Abogado se dirija a otro Abogado.

"Apreciado Señor": como dice gemae, queda muy bien, si no se conoce personalmente a la persona.
