Italian term or phrase: frangente
I assume they mean something to do with "breaking away from the norm" here, but I can't seem to find a good way to phrase it. Any creative ideas? By the way, XX is a range of mosaics for interiors.

"L’antico incontra il moderno, ed è XX a farle da protagonista in questo ***frangente***, con gli scorci di un ambiente urbano che rivive il mosaico nella lettura più moderna."

Thanks for any ideas.

Here (tradition meets modernity)
Explanation:
I would rephrase it:
Here, tradition meets modernity: XXX takes centre stage etc.

on this occasion/circumstance

Explanation:
this is what frangente means: event, situation

I see it an absolutely natural translation

otherwise you would be very creative and detached from the original "frangente"'s meaning

XXX is the master of this art

Explanation:
I think you really need to get away from the very Italian nature of this sentence, and while still respecting the hyperbole, you could replace "ed è XX a farle da protagonista in questo ***frangente***" with "XXX is the master of this art"... and go on to the combination of ancient/modern urban mosaic... the 'frangente'/circumstance IS 'this art'

Explanation:
ed è XX a fare da protagonista in questo frangente -> and that's where XX takes centre stage (or comes into play, or whatever)

agree  Sally Winch: Yes, the Italian's a bit OTT-meaning 'in this brief moment of time', i.e. this unique occasion (how creative we are!)
