Hi all,

The above phrase needs to be verified, I believe this means person xx does not work for person xxx, although I could be wrong.

Heres a little more of the context,

I think the idea is there is no working relationship btween the two parties...

Ya.

This is common wording to make it clear that one party is NOT the employee of the other, that they are independent contractors, and consequently the former will not be liable for obligations of the latter, which he would be if the former were his employee. It is very common in all sorts of agreement to avoid a holding of an employment relationship.

Here's a couple of examples of use of very common phrase:

On a previous question, the asker provided information regarding a franchise lawsuit http://www.proz.com/kudoz/spanish_to_english/law:_contracts/... which is also on the internet. The following is an excerpt from the full document:

agree  AllegroTrans: and is therefore not employed by xx NB might not be an employer-relationship (lack of it) could also refer to sub-contracting etc.
4 hrs
-> Thanks AT. In this context it is used to make it clear that there is no employment relationship and thus the other party will not be liable for possible tax and social security or all sorts of other obligations of the other.
