French term or phrase: en coproduction d'initiative française à majorité française
Bonjour,

agree  Conor McAuley: French majority-funded/financed? Maybe needs to be made explicit in English.
1 hr
-> possibly, although it is a standard term. Thanks Conor

neutral  Tony M: I think the 'and' is misleading, it needs to be made clear that these are French-initiated films THAT are majority French financed (otherwise, it could be read as 2 separate categories of film)
1 hr
-> perhaps that would be clearer if we left out the second "French"

French-initiated co-production with French majority interest

Explanation:
I avoided the use of "and" because it can so easily imply that there are two types of co-production, those that are French-initiated and those with a French majority interest, when the absence of "and" in the source makes it clear that this is a single type of co-production with both characteristics.

"A French-initiated coproduction is: - a coproduction where the French partners (distributor, producer, CNC etc.) have a majority interest in the venture; ..."
