German term or phrase: Schirm Akteure
Occurs in a marketing document about performers at an opening ceremony for a sporting event: "Fahnenträger, Pois Artisten und **Schirm Akteure**". Simply appears as a list, with no further indication of the actual performance. Document is for a Swiss company, so perhaps a kind of act particular to Switzerland?

Explanation:
"Umbrella performers" is closer to your source text, but seems to be less common. Performing with umbrellas implies some degree of choreography,so I think dancers is OK.

neutral  Helen Shiner: I don't think the leap to dancers is justified. If it was just that I am sure they would have been called Schirmtänzer.

agree  Lancashireman: "Some degree of choreography" is a reasonable supposition.

umbrella carriers

Explanation:
The picture I found when googling "umbrella carriers" (see Reference) is pretty convincing,
My idea is that as this is the opening ceremony there will be various groups of people in a sort of procession who walkj round the stadium or past a tribune etc. , including this Asian type of umbrella carriers.
