w kontekście prawniczym (a nie medycznym)
"środek zabezpieczający polegający na umieszczeniu w zakładzie zamkniętym"

detain in a closed institution
Explanation:
Zakład zamknięty w kodeksie karnym pojawia się dwa razy:

Art. 93.

Institutions also need to prepare young people to return to society. They can do this in a number of ways, for example by not releasing them directly from a closed institution into normal society, but by first reintroducing them to increasingly more open surroundings.

Across Ukraine, young people continue to be detained in closed institutions such as at Berezhany juvenile detention facility in the west of the country. There are currently about 180 boys serving sentences here.

Maybe this should be of some help:

Article 93. The court may impose a preventive measure provided for in this Chapter, which involves committing to a closed medical institution only when necessary to prevent repeated offending, by the perpetrator, of a prohibited act connected with mental disease, mental impairment or addiction to alcohol or other narcotic drugs. Prior to the imposition of such measure the court shall hear from psychiatrists and a psychologist.

Or this:
Article 95. Section 1. In sentencing a perpetrator to a penalty of deprivation of liberty without a conditional suspension of its execution, for an offence committed in a state of diminished responsibility as specified in Article 31 Section2, the court may order his commitment to a penal institution where special medical treatment or rehabilitation measures can be administered.

Or this:

Art. 93. The court may decide upon a preventive measure provided for in this chapter, related to the placing in a locked health institution, only when it is necessary so as to prevent relapse into crime by a perpetrator of a prohibited act, related to his mental disease, mental retardation, alcohol or drug addiction; before this measure is decided, the court hears psychiatrists and a psychologist.

Or this:

Art. 95. § 1. Sentencing an offender to a penalty of deprivation of freedom without a conditional suspension of its execution for an offence committed in the condition of limited accountability defined under Art. 31 §2, the court may have the offender placed in a penal institution where particular treatment or rehabilitative measures are applied.

Or this (from the 1973 Polish Penal Code):

Preventive Measures
Art. 99. If it has been determined that the perpetrator has committed the prohibited act in a state of irresponsibility specified in Art. 25 §1, and his remaining at liberty presents a serious danger for the legal order, the court shall order the commitment of the perpetrator to a psychiatric hospital or to another appropriate institution.
Art. 100. §1. If a sentence has been imposed for an offense committed in a state of diminished responsibility specified in Art. 25 §2, and the perpetrator remaining at liberty presents a serious danger for the legal order, the court may order his commitment to a psychiatric hospital or to another appropriate institution.

Example sentence(s):
  • He should have been involuntarily committed to a locked facility as soon as he was diagnosed as paranoid-schizophrenic
