The text is terms and conditions of an agreement and I am currently working on the section of indemnification:

You agree that xxx has the unlimited right to defend any Claim and to settle any Claim without your prior permission.
Here is my suggestion, would that work/be correct?

Sie stimmen zu, dass sich xxx das uneingeschränkte Recht vorbehält, ohne ihre vorher eingeholte Zustimmung, jede Forderung zu verteidigen und jeden Anspruch zu befriedigen.

Die Forderungen geltend zu machen, wäre ja glatt das Gegenteil. Soweit geht m. E. die Anwendungsbreite von defend nicht. Ausserdem passt "sich wehren, verteidigen gegen" durchaus in den Kontext.

disagree  Cetacea: Das wäre dann aber im Englischen m.W. "enforce a claim". Wenn man Joannas Referenz und diese hier http://www.aboutsmallclaims.co.uk/how-defend-claim-countercl... anschaut, kann es das definitiv nicht sein.
