I don't think they run tutoring sessions as such (that's for "lowly" grad students or even undergraduates with good marks). But I think they have a sort of supervisory/advisory/tutory rôle for a group of students.
Maybe something like "pastoral care" might fit, but without any religious connotations.

I understand cchat's point very well; in fact, last night I thought of the same thing, but changed my mind because I was having trouble picturing university professors holding after-class tutoring sessions, as may often be the case with high school teachers. Normally at university, you get graduate students or someone adverstising on campus to help you with areas you're having trouble in.

Perhaps, they mean that the professor is an "organizer of tutoring classes" for students in particular field (calculus, writing, etc). But I don't see the professors acting as tutors themselves all semester long for just 250 bucks.

It's probably not about a club organizer in a certain field like chemistry, etc, but it was just a wild guess.

I think it's about help for students encountering academic difficulties; things like tutoring or mentoring or advising. A professor may have a certain number of students to take under his/her wing, or some students may be specifically targeted because of their difficulties.
