French to English translations [PRO] Education / Pedagogy / Tunisian grade transcript
French term or phrase:TY
this is another column heading for a grade transcript for the Tunis School of Law and Political Science. All the courses read "E" in this column, meaning "été" maybe?
E could be for Ecrit, the other option being Oral. As it is a session de rattrapage, I think professors can choose to set a written or oral exam. So that would make ty an abbreviation for type d'épreuve.
Yes, I agree and I did ask about an hour ago. I will post if I get a reply, although I seldom do. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything obvious.
The student was admitted into the program with a passing grade, so I don't think the E could be echec, since it appears for every course. I am still leaning toward été since the transcript is for June although it could be something else. And I agree that "type would be written out. They appear to have allowed up to five characters per column, except for the widest subject column.
Just rethinking a little, maybe a practical course would not be graded like a tutorial, but it sitll doesn't look like anything but TY. And "E" appears in every row, including the three rows for courses that have grades under T.D., while the T.D. column is blank for the remaining courses. So it doesn't appear to be an either/or set up for these two column headings.
I don't think it could be T.P., although that would make a lot of sense. However, I would expect to see grades in all the rows that don't have grades under T.D., and that is not the case. It doesn't look like it could be anything but TY. I will ask the client for an expansion and post it if I get one.
I agree there is not much to go on. However, all the column headings are in French, so I believe the correct language field is French to English. Here is the transcript: SESSION DE RATTRAPAE (JUIN 2000) CODE MATIERE / SEM / COEF / TY / T.D. / JUIN / RATTR / MOYENN / TOTAL Every other column has grades or coefficient/sweighting factors listed for each course. "TY" has "E" listed for every course.
