French term or phrase: microbillage
I am translating a text about the manufacture of alloy sheets and there is a bulletpointed list of surface treatments carried out on the sheets. I am unsure how to translate "microbillage". I believe it to be similar to sandblasting only with using small pieces of other materials like glass but I am not sure.

neutral  chris collister: As the word implies, "shot" is much bigger and heavier than a tiny glass bead. The purpose of shot peening is surface work hardening, but not, I think, the purpose of bead or sand-blasting
