Have opened a bit of a can of worms here. I think the structures and terminology vary within as well as between countries, so we're basically on a hiding to nothing here!
When I was a student you did a dissertation for your MA and a thesis for your PhD, whereas now the MA project seems to have been upgraded, so that much I have definitely learned today!
The problem here though is that the text is looking at it from the company's point of view rather than the student's. It seems commonplace for companies to "sponsor" a thesis, but of course my company is too mean and just "helps". As the job had to go out yesterday, I had to find an emergency solution. Since the term was non-critical and part of a list, I came within a hair's breadth of just missing it out (!), but in the end I decided to fudge the issue with "thesis programmes".

Maybe Master thesis project is more specific? Or too specific? The specialeforløb might apply to a Bachelor degree as well. Not sure... Anybody who knows?

After having looked thoroughly at various university websites, e.g. North American, Australian and European, the term specialisation appears to often have the same meaning as a major (versus a minor). However, as Diarmuid already has pointed out, such terms are often being used rather broadly, all depending on the country and/or institution in question. It is definitely true that specialisation courses lead to the thesis phase, just like they do in Denmark. Specialisation is not nearly specific enough to me, especially since a master's student can in fact choose not just one, but even two specialisations. However, I believe that one can only write one single master's thesis - before potentially continuing with a PhD-dissertation.

Sorry, the question should say that this is what the company has to offer *postgraduates* (Master's students). It is sponsoring or assisting with their dissertation in some way.
